From September 21 to 27, we're hosting the inaugural Missing & Trafficked Foster Children Awareness Week, during which partners from around the nation are uniting to Turn America Blue.
Join us to raise awareness and protect vulnerable children.
See Us Now is a student-led organization that is fighting for change in national and global foster care systems. We lead a variety of advocacy events, petition the government and the WHO, and volunteer for change.
SUN makes it easy to get involved. Explore our site to find a variety of resources to join our movement, including signing resolutions, contacting Congress, donating, and volunteering.
The 2025 Blue Out event is on the horizon! Every year, we strive to make more movement towards helping those in need, and participating in the Blue Out is a great way to show support.
Global Work
We amplify the voices of foster youth through storytelling, public awareness events, and creative outreach—including lighting up landmarks in blue to raise awareness of the housing crisis.
Every Child Deserves to Be Seen, Safe, and Supported.
At See Us Now (SUN), we believe that no child should ever feel invisible. We are a student-led, nonprofit organization on a mission to advocate for the safety, dignity, and future of foster children across the United States—especially those most at risk of abuse, neglect, homelessness, and human trafficking. With over 400,000 foster kids in the U.S., and 60% of trafficked children having been involved with foster care, the time to act is now. Our programs, campaigns, and legislative efforts focus on creating more safe, stable housing so every child has the opportunity to access education, receive medical and mental health care, and grow up in a supportive environment.
What We Do
Advocacy & Policy Reform
We fight for legislation that protects foster youth and gives them the resources they need to thrive. This includes support for:
Our journey began in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, when co-founders Kari Wagner and her daughter Charissa discovered a heartbreaking truth: group homes that once sheltered children now sat empty, while foster youth were left sleeping in tents, cars, hotel rooms, and even office floors. These children were not just being displaced—they were disappearing.
Inspired by this urgent need, Kari, Charissa, and a team of passionate teens formed See Us Now to shine a light on the hidden foster care crisis—and to do something about it.
