Why We’re Going Blue

Blue is the color of being seen.

During National Missing & Trafficked Foster Children Awareness Week, we’re asking everyone to do one simple thing: go blue.

Wear blue. Light your porch blue. Decorate your storefront, classroom, dorm, or desk. Put a Blue Out frame on your profile, post it, tag @see.us.now, and ask three people to do the same. Together, we can raise awareness and show vulnerable foster youth that they are seen.

How to Participate

Four simple ways to take part.

Participate from home, school, work, church, or anywhere in your community on Thursday, September 24.

Wear It

Wear a blue shirt, ribbon, socks, or face paint. Invite your team, class, church, or office to match.

Light It

Use a blue porch light, bulbs, balloons, driveway chalk, a door ribbon, window paint, or a blue-lit storefront or sign.

Frame It

Add the Step Up frame to your profile photo, selfie, group photo, or story so everyone can see why you’re blue.

Post It

Lead with #BlueOut, tag @see.us.now, invite us as a collaborator, and challenge three people to go blue.

Share the Message

What should I say?

Make it your own and say why going blue matters to you—or copy and paste this caption.

Campaign Tools

Use the frames and stickers.

The media kit includes creative examples and instructions for carrying the Blue Out message across your social channels.

The Frame

Use the square (1080 × 1080) or story (1080 × 1920) campaign frame on a selfie, group photo, blue house or storefront, story, or profile picture.

  1. Download the square or story frame.
  2. In Instagram Stories or Canva, place your photo first and add the transparent frame on top.
  3. For a profile picture, place your photo behind the square frame in Canva and export it.
  4. Post with #BlueOut and tag @see.us.now.

Also included in the campaign materials: a simplified square/story frame featuring #BlueOut, #SeeUsNow, and the Awareness Week line. Photos shown in the kit are examples; use your own.

The Stickers

Invite others to join by adding a round, small-placement round, or banner Blue Out sticker to any post or story between now and September 24.

  1. Download the transparent sticker PNGs.
  2. In Instagram Stories, add your photo, then select the sticker from your photo picker and place it in a corner.
  3. In Canva, place the sticker on any post. Use the small-placement round version when the sticker will be less than about 300 pixels wide.
  4. Post with #BlueOut #SeeUsNow and tag @see.us.now.
